Hyperreal Prototypes: Supersurfaces

In this project I take on questions of how authenticity is built in spaces, which seem to draw from real, physical environments, but produce new hyperreal atmospheres of desire, comfort or familiarity. I explore the meaning of space in the production of aspirational hyprealities, specifically how they are experienced through and for the screen as an agent to suspend disbelief. Numerous experiments were done with different types of screens as surfaces and what their impact is on space. Various sites were unpacked in different ways to identify what the influences are in the creation of this supersurface. In the process of deconstructing these super strange fake-surfaces, I also, at times, take on speculative methods to suggest either new ways of seeing these worlds, or the new worlds they seek to project. The project is for the moment looking at printed, cellphone, TV, and film screens particularly as sites for exploration and discovery.
