UNIT 17
Making... A Difference 2022
In a fast-paced city, the urban environment and its dwellers crave moments of pause and convenience. Little conveniences throughout the day help us gain more time for activities that need to be achieved in a day – every convenience counts!

Cityscapes today are a blend of dull concrete and glass which has become a depressing bore to the eye. Colour has the ability to change the way we perceive spaces to the extent of having an effect on how we feel emotionally. In this thesis, a chosen urban environment in the suburb of Illovo will be studied and the ways in which we can use creative design to link popular routes for the convenience of the city user. Research into the vibrant nature of colour to transform the space into a powerful urban design statement which responds to the needs of its inhabitants will be implemented.

Architecture is a social activity that has to do with some sort of communication or places of interaction, and that to change the environment is to change behaviour.
