The project questions notions around the idea of home, how landscape influences the home and the home influences its residents.

The research is situated in cultural events from maternal and paternal backgrounds. The events’ modification of their respective landscapes is mapped out. While some of these events and rituals can be performed and appropriated in other landscapes, some cannot be appropriated.

The project documents how residents in townships and rural areas have resisted Land Acts through rituals and the appropriation of the objects used in these rituals. It is observed that there is a mutual imprinting of the ritual on landscape and landscape on ritual.
