UNIT 15X︎︎︎
Toxic [Urban] Landscapes
The aim of his project is to explore an alternative sustainable resettlement in the broader mining industry. The approach would be to phase the development to allow for organic sustainable growth of natural and social resources. This will be explored through understanding the existing conditions of the site – the physical characteristics of the site, economic and social activities that take place.

The project explores several typologies from greenhouse, schools, wetland systems to sustainable farming. Based on the current activities, I will build on the farming activity to develop several green houses in the community.  Finally, learning from the organic nature of the four communities that were relocated into a rigid grid system, the project proposes an alternative resettlement community that is driven by social spaces, and economic hubs which encourage integration. The project will allow for a more organic growth with green corridors, public spaces, trading spaces and play areas. The project will explore conventional architectural representation techniques to represent the interventions.
